There are typically 3 jacks on the back of the phones here at SLKF:

  1. Network jack (which provides power to the phone AND connects it to the network)
  2. Computer jack (used to connect a computer/laptop or a printer to the network WHILE the phone is connected)
  3. Handset jack (used to connect your phone's handset to the phone)

* Depending on the type of phone you have in your room, you MAY have one more jack:  Headset jack (used to connect a headset that you wear to use the phone - typically used by receptionists in offices)

If your phone is not working correctly, check to see if the cables are plugged into the correct jack.

  1. The BLUE (or BLACK) network cable (coming out of the wall) MUST be plugged into the NETWORK jack.  If nothing is plugged into the network jack, your phone will NOT work.....END OF STORY....CASE CLOSED.
  2. The black spiral cord (coming out of the handset receiver) MUST be plugged into the HANDSET jack (it will either be labeled as 'handset' or with a picture of a handset receiver)
  3. If you have a computer, laptop, or printer connected to your phone, you'll probably have another blue (or some other color) network cable connected to the COMPUTER jack.  If you DON'T have another device to connect to the phone, then nothing will be plugged into this jack.  SPECIAL NOTE: In order to have a 'networkable' device connected to your phone, your phone MUST be on AND show the name of the phone in the display.  If the phone has an error of some sort, your connected 'networkable' device will probably not work as expected.  In that case, check out some of the help topics on the AllWorx phones here on the support page and see if you can troubleshoot the issue on your own.  If none of the solutions work, please use the support site (support.slkfschool.com) and fill out an incident request.
